Biography

Dr. Paulsen Bahmer is from the United States. Trained from childhood in Shakespearean theatre, classical music, and the visual arts, she completed her formal education in art history when it became clear that mythology, folklore, and art were where her true interests lay. In spare moments, she explores the Chinese versions of all these things.

Research interests

Current research interests include:

Using virtual reality for formal and informal pedagogy

Social messaging in mythology and folklore transmission, particularly in popular culture (both ancient and contemporary)

Chinese intangible cultural heritage

Liminal spaces and divisions (borders, boundaries, frames, and thresholds)
