Dr. English has lived in China for more than 15 years. He studies how culture affects the way humans behave and cope with stressful situations. He studies how people who move to new environments encounter subtle changes that lead variations in behavior. Dr. English found that when people moved between rice (southern) and wheat (northern) agriculture regions of China they adapted their coping strategies to match the local environment. More recently, Dr English has examined social norms in a post-COVID world. His research looks at mask behaviors and interpersonal relationships.
Dr. English is an active member in International Association of Cross Cultural Psychology (IACCP), Asian Association of Social Psychology (AASP), International Academy of Intercultural Relations (IAIR) and Chinese Culture Psychology Assocation. He is the associate editor of International Journal of Intercultural Research (Q2-SSCI, IF 2.99)
