Educational Background

M.A., Literatures in English, University of California, San Diego, 2008

B.A., English, Utah State University, 1999

Biography

As a first generation university graduate, I am a strong advocate for education that liberates and empowers students. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and have made a slow westward journey during my lifetime, with stops in Utah, California, and most recently Bangladesh, where I served for ten years as an Assistant Professor of Composition at the Asian University for Women.

I am a Lecturer in English in the first of what I hope will be many years in China and at Wenzhou-Kean. In addition to my research interests, I write short and long-form fiction and poetry and teach online courses on social justice to underserved populations.
