I have an eclectic educational background.  At Illinois State University, USA,  I studied fine art, painting, drawing, ceramics, and intaglio printmaking.  I studied art education at Northern Illinois University and taught art in primary and junior high schools.   Art education was cut from many school districts, which forced a career change.  After earning a CELTA certificate, I spent time teaching in Saudi Arabia.  Upon my return to the US, I received an MA in TESOL from Northern Arizona University.  Since then, I have taught ESL, EAP, and ESP in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, and here at WKU.  I also hold certifications in health and fitness coaching.

Biography

I am currently an English Lecturer with over 30 years of teaching experience.

I have taught English in Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, and China.

One of my teaching passions in the digital age is guiding students in finding valid and reliable sources of information.

I am also a health and fitness enthusiast and enjoy training for and participating in triathlons.

My passion as an educator is to inspire curiosity in my students and help them learn how to identify and evaluate professional sources of information, as well as recognize misinformation when they encounter it.

In my free time, I enjoy cycling, swimming, and working out at the gym.  I also like learning languages.  To varying degrees, I have been conversational in Spanish, Farsi, and Arabic. I am making slow and steady progress in Mandarin.
