Biography

Logan R. Butterfield brings a distinctive interdisciplinary background to Wenzhou-Kean University, combining expertise in law, library science, and academic writing instruction. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was a finalist in the Iron Tech Lawyer Competition, earned USPTO Limited Recognition, and authored several research manuscripts regarding AI in the judicial system, patent monopolies, and health law policy, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating summa cum laude, where his focus was on digital ethics.

For over six years, Logan co-owned and operated Le Delice International Education & Consulting alongside his wife, Bicao Butterfield, who currently teaches at WKU as well. Through Le Delice, Logan has mentored hundreds of students into successful admission to undergraduate and graduate programs at preeminent institutions throughout the U.S., U.K., and China, specializing in humanities theory and research. Further, he has designed courses ranging from Speech Composition & Delivery to Ethics & The Law to Critical Analysis of Platonic Philosophy.

Logan's professional experience spans academic research, legal practice, and library project management. He has served as a research assistant investigating international law and human rights, worked as an in-house legal associate with the University of Richmond's Intellectual Property Law Clinic, and managed digital preservation projects at Carnegie Mellon University Libraries. He and Bicao Butterfield’s unique metadata schema for law libraries, "Case Law XML," demonstrates commitment to bridging technology and legal research. Additionally, he served as legal advisor on select issues involving trademark & copyright infringement and business law for Le Delice.

Beyond academia, Logan enjoys writing novels in the romance, eco-science fiction, and mystery genres during his spare time.
