Biography
Sandra has worked internationally for 15 years, including Norway, Spain, Korea, China, Oman, and the United States. Her experience spans a broad range to include young learners, middle school students, university and study-abroad students, and adult learners with immigrant/refugee/asylum status. She focuses on EAP curriculum development, with a specific emphasis on Academic Writing. Her student-centered teaching style incorporates elements of critical thinking and learner autonomy, and invites students to consider context, genre, and audience in all aspects of communication, and to understand the ethical consequences of living, communicating, and moving about in a rapidly changing globalized world while learning English. Sandra joined the WKU faculty in Fall 2024.
Research interests
Sandra’s research interests have primarily focused on affective factors in second language acquisition, language pedagogy, project-based learning, and study abroad.
